Our journey into wine country ended at a wine tasting event at Cakebread Cellars featuring the recently released Rubáiyat. I ended up buying a couple bottles of their Dancing Bear Ranch instead.

This is what a cabin microfilter that has not been changed since 11/1994 looks like. And this is after I dropped the filter on the ground a couple of times to dislodge the crap that has built up. You can still see crap built up between the pleats.NOT SHOWN: the pound of leaves that came down like an avalanche into the passenger floor after the microfilter was removed.

I spent the weekend helping Jim manage his parent's properties in Mississippi. This is a picture of the smoke stacks of the Ameristar riverboat casino docked on the Mississippi side of the Mississippi river. Jim's best description of Mississippi was Joe Dirt meets Idiocracy. I thought it was rather unusual to see this rather large growth of bamboo behind his grandparent's house, which is in the middle of a pine forest. Jim told me his uncle planted a bamboo tree many years ago.
