I spent the weekend helping Jim manage his parent's properties in Mississippi. This is a picture of the smoke stacks of the Ameristar riverboat casino docked on the Mississippi side of the Mississippi river. Jim's best description of Mississippi was Joe Dirt meets Idiocracy. The following days would prove that he was right on the money.
This is how 1970 looks.
I thought it was rather unusual to see this rather large growth of bamboo behind his grandparent's house, which is in the middle of a pine forest. Jim told me his uncle planted a bamboo tree many years ago.
One of the many things an intellectual Jim constructed as a teenager during his years in rural Mississippi. When you don't have legos...
One of Jim's many memories is that of his mother planting flowers in the expansive yard. In the background is 180-ish acres of pine that belong to the family.
The pre-cursor to the modern electric range. Push buttons must have been rave back then.
Jim's father was an engineer for NASA. Apparently, he was also a pack rat because Jim's house is full of this sort of stuff. This is just one of many documents that his father collected during his employment at NASA.
and don't you eat that yellow snow...
I think there's enough snow for a decent snowman. Hell, I'm contemplating whipping out the sled and dogs for some artic mushing fun.
Boss-man noticed that it was sleeting during lunch so he let us work the rest of the day from home. It's a darn good thing I got home when I did because it's coming down hard. It looks like we may be snowed in. It's a good thing I've got a month's supply of ramen and beef jerky in the pantry.
